The titbids of the farm-The hawthorn
There is a hawthorn tree by the deck behind the farmhouse.
In the spring, the hawthorn flowers attract bees and flies thronging around.
While the buzzing bees are busy taking the nectar, the flies also rush to the clamor.
Year after year, the hawthorn tree grows taller. It is all covered with pinkish white in full bloom.
Every now and then, the hawthorn flowers breathe out whiffs of an unusual fishy scent over the deck which is distasteful. No wonder it drives swarms of flies in humming to bug us.
In the fall, there are hawthorn fruit hanging on the tree.
The hawthorn fruit is a little bit sour and a little bit sweet, good to digest and lower the blood pressure, which benefits our health.
The hawthorn tree is kept for good.
